Compassionate and Dedicated
Marsharae Cage, RN, BSN
Marsharae Cage is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native who began her nursing career as an LPN in 2005 after completing an 18-month program at Louisiana Tech. Marsharae's ambition and drive led her to further her education and become an RN, receiving her Associate’s degree from Baton Rouge Community College and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Marsharae gained valuable experience working at Earl K. Long Hospital where she learned a great deal about patient care and loved working in the community where she was raised.
After working at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Marsharae moved back to Baton Rouge to pursue her passion for working with marginalized communities and disadvantaged people. In 2013, Marsharae worked at Sage Rehab until her tenure in 2021 as the Director of Nursing in which she faced similar challenges with staff. Currently, Marsharae works at Ochsner, where she is responsible for patient care, total care, and phlebotomist duties. Throughout her career, Marsharae noticed a lack of competent and compassionate people in the healthcare industry and decided to open her own school, The HEART Academy, which trains and empowers people who want to become allied healthcare professionals.
Marsharae’s dedication to nursing and her passion for helping marginalized communities and disadvantaged people make her a role model for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
“Over the past couple decades there have been far too many young people that pursue a career in healthcare primarily for the money. Our role in the community is critically important. We need a new generation of aspiring healthcare professionals that are committed to integrity, compassion, and the highest quality care for every patient they serve.”
